Please just read my recap for CBS Local. I’m choosing, at least for now, to leave it at that as opposed to writing a few thousand more words about perhaps the greatest World Series game ever.
March Madness. Super Bowl. Sudden death. There are several two-word phrases that excite sports fans. Here’s another: Game 7. The Cubs and Indians and their long history of failure will play for the World Series trophy tonight in Cleveland. Joe Maddon made some strange bullpen moves last night, but the Cubs won. Read about the important moments and what to look for tonight in my CBS Local recap.
We’re going back to Cleveland. The Cubs fought off elimination with a 3-2 win last night thanks to a big fourth inning and Aroldis Chapman’s eight-out save. Read all about it in my CBS Local recap.
We knew one long championship drought would end no matter who won this World Series. It’s the Indians who are on the brink after a Game 4 win. Corey Kluber was stellar for the second time this series and Cleveland showed some power that the Cubs have been lacking. The Indians will try to close out the Cubs at Wrigley tonight. Read my Game 4 recap on CBS Local.
The Indians relied on their usual playoff formula last night: a short but strong outing from their starting pitcher and a shut-down bullpen. The only run came on a pinch hit single, but it was enough to give Cleveland a 2 games to 1 lead in the World Series. Read all about it in my CBS Local recap.
The 2016 World Series is tied thanks to Jake Arrieta and the middle of the Cubs lineup. Cleveland’s starting pitching, outside of Game 1 starter Corey Kluber, has not been particularly strong this postseason, and it bit them last night. Wrigley will be rocking tomorrow night, but will Kyle Schwarber be in the lineup? Read my latest recap for CBS Local.
The Indians blanked the Cubs last night in the World Series opener. Corey Kluber, Cleveland’s unquestioned ace, was on top of his game. Many feel the Cubs still have the advantage due to their starting pitching depth, but that didn’t do the Mets much good last year. Read about Kluber, the Indians’ young bats, Kyle Schwarber’s return, and more in my Game 1 recap for CBS Local.
