A Michigan athletics usher loses battle with covid-19

Robert Zavala, a dedicated member of the University of Michigan’s “event team” — the group of people who work the stadiums at Michigan sporting events — caught COVID-19 in November and died. He was just 49 years old.

Through his co-workers and others who knew him well, I tell Robert’s story, linked below.

Profile on Michigan QB Joe Milton

Michigan starts its 2020 football season tomorrow against Minnesota. Joe Milton figures to take the field as Michigan’s starting quarterback for the first time.

Milton has an interesting backstory, as he comes from a rough town that has produced an incredible amount of football talent.

I spoke to some people from Pahokee, Florida, as well as several Michigan players and coaches to learn more about Milton.

His path to Michigan and how he improved in his role — which could possibly carry him to the NFL — are detailed in my story, which you can read here.
